After-School Care Corporación Casa Estudio
"La Casita de Bogotá"
The institution Corporación Casa Estudio - "La Casita de Bogotá" in the south of Bogotá was founded in 1982 with the goal to keep children off the street whose parents have to work fulltime.
Eight educators care for the 96 children aged six to fourteen. In order to make full use of the institution, children arrive in two shifts, mornings and afternoons.
La Casita supervises the children's school attendance and ensures that they do not roam the streets. They also get a warm lunch and a snack. The children also receive homework supervision, to support the parents, not to take away their responsibility. The parents are instructed in child care and family planning. La Casita receives donations from individuals and organizations in the country and from abroad. The parents are supposed to pay 4 EUR per month per child but for at least 15 children this is not possible. These children may not be able to come to La Casita any longer if they do not receive support through donations.
